PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Our project arises from the need we detected in the four educational centers on the priority of fighting against discrimination, bullying and violence.
After months of contacts between the centers, we show that we share the same needs around the fight against Bullying in the classrooms and that we think it is very convenient to solve or minimize this reality to resort to peer mediation as a way to solve conflicts.
In addition, we consider granting a purely collaborative approach to the development of conflict resolution and school mediation skills. Since this teaching-learning strategy in the classroom educates in values of cooperation, solidarity and generosity; values that the four educational centers promote and defend.
Finally, this project aims to improve the competence in linguistic communication of students in a transversal way; that is, we will encourage the development of linguistic competence through the design of activities focused on resolving conflicts through dialogue. These actions will prepare the student to face life as a responsible and rational adult who is able to solve their difficulties through dialogue and the use of critical thinking without resorting to violent acts.
In summary, we intend to develop during the two years of the project a positive and peaceful model of coexistence with a preventive and educational character where the student is the protagonist of the teaching-learning process. In addition, we intend it to be a model that can be extrapolated to centers throughout Europe.
We think that our project should be financed because when carried out transnationally the students will understand that the conflicts that occur in their environment are similar to those of other educational realities and that respect and tolerance must be globally and universally defended values. In addition, we believe that it is an innovative project, since we will focus on peer mediation from a different point of view than what it has been doing until now. This new approach refers to working with peer mediation and resolving conflicts in a collaborative way; therefore, the mediation will not fall on only one agent, but the group will propose the resolution of the conflict. In this way, we intend to encourage cooperation, respect and tolerance among students; also encouraging each student to feel integrated and valued in the group.
Also, we find an innovative aspect in the design of the activities that will be carried out since all will work the competence in linguistic communication, promoting the development of the oral skills in the students and thus contributing to improve their academic performance.
